When you look up the definition of inspire you get: Fill (someone) with the urge or ability to do or feel something, that is exactly what I want to do with this blog. I want to be an inspiration to people, to let people know that being different is okay. I want to tell people my journey but at the same time I want people to treat me like a normal nineteen year old. At twenty-six years old I hope that I have made impacts on people's lives.
Long story short I was diagnosed with Cerebro Costo Mandibular Syndrome. It was noticed at birth that I have had a small chin and no heels. I did not require oxygen until I was 9 months old. I had a spinal fusion at 23 months old for a 62 degree kyphosis and a PDA repair when I was 5. I have a bell shaped chest, and my top 7 ribs are not calcified. The doctors have always been worried about my size, we were even told by 1 pulmonary doctor that there was a chance I could be placed on a vent. As I mention, I am now 20 years old, 4 feet 6 inches and 85 lbs. I had a gtube(which I called button) placed at 3 weeks old for failure to thrive. I am missing my epiglottis, and had a lot of testing and worked with a OT with much success. My g-tube was able to be removed my junior year of high school. I have a severe bilateral hearing loss and wear a bone conducting hearing aid. I was a girl who was told that I would never be able to walk, eat or talk and I'm proving each and everyone of those doctors wrong, and I'm enjoying every moment of it. |
